Autism Awareness Campaign

Autism is a spectrum.

Hospital for Special Care is non-profit long term acute care and rehabilitation hospital located in New Britain, Connecticut.  They are a leader in breakthrough autism care and their autism inpatient and outpatient program are among the first of their kind in the nation.

The purpose of this billboard and social media campaign was to remind the community that the hospital is a leader in autism care through a general autism awareness campaign. 

After some general research I created a creative brief and designed and implemented ad concepts.

The billboard ads ran for the month of April (autism awareness month) across multiple billboards in the Greater Hartford area. 

Current families using the hospital’s autism services noted that this campaign was a fresh look at Autism Awareness. This idea did not stray down the path of an ‘autism prodigy’, or negativity: all the things someone can’t do, the struggles, or statistics, but rather emulated the spectrum and turned the negatives into positives. This campaign made a child with autism relatable.
